So to start off I’m Gina-Kate Prince. I’m 18 years old from bonnie Scotland and I am currently living it large in Kuitun, Xinjiang Province, China. I’m here as a volunteer TEFL teacher with U.K charity Project Trust that specialises in sending high school leavers for 8 and 12 months placements overseas. While in Kuitun I have been lucky enough to find another teaching oppurtunity in a nearby town, Dushanzi, for the next school year.
Back in Scotland I live with my parents, Sue and Stephen, and my younger brother, William., not far from Aberdeen. Then, in our hometown Bolton, England, you can find my older sister, Heidi.
So why am i writing a blog, I hear you ask…well you didn’t, but let’s pretend you did ask!! I guess the main reason I am writing a blog is because since coming over to China I’ve grown up, A LOT, and my strengths, skills and interests have become more clear to me. But I suppose that happens to everyone as they get older, right? As time drags on, the effort and time people put in to certain things start to pay off.
I am now proud to say that I am in partnership with the Jeffrey International Cultural Exchange Programme, whose main goal is to develop long-term relationships between China and the UK and USA. For more information click here.
Hobby-wise and how I spend my free time, I spend a significant amount of time attempting to get a grasp on the Chinese language. I’ll admit it’s pretty darn difficult, but I’ve found it very interesting and a worthwhile challenge. I am also currently working through an online TEFL course while also doing some more ‘normal’ hobbies like drawing, cycling, going to the gym, and of course procrastinating like a pro on Tumblr and Twitter.
